Write for us

Clever Racing Journal welcomes pitches that help curious readers understand racing more clearly. We are interested in precise, reader-friendly ideas that explore one useful question rather than trying to cover an entire discipline at once.

What we welcome

Pitch explanations of race formats, course features, equipment purposes, racecraft or the way a race day is organised. Strong ideas give readers a clear point of entry, explain any specialist terms and make the subject useful to people who may be new to it. Comparisons work well when they show what changes and why.

Shape a focused pitch

Tell us the working title, the central question, the main idea you would explain and why it suits Clever Racing Journal. Note the racing discipline and any context a reader would need. We value clear reasoning and an honest account of what the piece can establish. Do not send confidential material, unsupported claims or a draft built around invented facts.

Send a proposal

Use the Contact page and select the editorial option. Include a short summary of your idea and any relevant writing samples or experience you choose to share. A pitch is a proposal, not a guarantee of publication; please wait for a response before treating an idea as commissioned.

Our point of view

Every race has more than one story.

We look beyond the result to the formats, course features and decisions that make each contest distinct.
